No i dont think this is true! I think what happens is that grey hairs usually tend to grow around the same places, so that may be why people think that.

No it's not true. It's an old wives tale, just like when you shave your hair it comes back thicker (it doesn't, it's just the end is blunter/flatter so it looks darker and therefore thicker).
