Why Does Hair Turn Grey...?

I have noticed that a lot of my peers' hair is turning grey, and was wondering what caused it? And is there any way of combating it, or at least delaying it? Thanks.

I don't know about delaying or stopping it but it happens because your hair follicles get old just like the rest of your body, new cell reproduction takes much longer or even stops completely, the production of melanin in the follicle of the hair which has gone grey has stopped.

it just does, it's called aging. nothing you can do about it apart from dyeing it!

the hair loses its colour causing grey usually due to age altho some people go grey at a young age i kno people that have turned grey at 14.

its usally genetic but stress can cause grey my mum started going grey when her dad died almost an over night she started to go grey

Good question. In my opinion grey hair are not so bad... at least it is not bold. To delay that be in a good mood and get lots of vegetables in your diet. Why people in South got they greys late? May be it is genetics

the hair looses pigment as we grow old, which is odd because our skin gets more pigment resulting in dark liver spots.

all i can say is that I am a

retired man, still in my 60s

and have about 6 grey hairs

not bad e'h, my father who

died in his mid 70s had hardly

a grey hair on his head,

my younger brothers are well grey,

the only thing different is when we

were younger my father and I both

used Brylcreem, and vasaline hair tonic.

it might have something to do with it ??
