I've had grey hair since I was 9 or 10. My mother says it's from stress which I can believe since I had a pretty rough childhood when I was 5. I just wanted to confirm if this is true or not.

It's just your genes. There was a girl in Jr. High, 13 yo, had flecks of white going through her otherwise absolutely black hair. It's not unusual and don't worry about it.

The stress thing is usually used to explain Marie Antoinette turning grey while she was in the Bastille waiting to be beheaded, but that was apparently because she just didn't have access to her usual wigs and hair dye and was grey all along. And then there was Madeline "Seven was always my lucky number" Khan in "The Young Frankenstein"....

In your case, if your male ancestors didn't turn grey at your age, I'd say it was stress, or something else.
