She may like to try going to a Medium Auburn or a Dark Auburn color. My hair is dark brown and I love this color on me.

It is best not to try and go lighter because the roots will be more visible as the hair grows out and it is hard to keep up. These colors (the med to dark auburns) are great and I usually have to recolor every 3 months. My hair is in great shape even after coloring. Since her hair is dry, she will need to use a shampoo and conditioner for dry hair instead of one for color treated hair. I recently colored my hair with Med Auburn by Superior Preference by Loreal. It comes with a 6 week after color-saving conditioner that I love and it keeps the hair soft and the color last longer.

There are many professional brands to be found at a hair supply store......Sally's comes to mind. Suggest to her that she go a wee bit lighter rather than the same color. Going darker usually looks *harsh*
