My mom is 46 years old.She has kept her hair growing for many years and kept the scissors away from her hair.It is almost knee length now.Her hair is very healthy,no split ends,no grey hair.She makes her hair into a huge bun with a big hairnet.The hair,i think,is a part of my mom.But many people keep saying"rapunzle is out of fashion and go get a cut"to her.what do you think about a mid-aged woman having super long hair ? Is it ugly?Should my mom cut it short?Should she git rid of her "trademark"?

If her hair is healthy and she likes it, who cares what anybody else thinks? I think women look great with long hair, and she's got plenty of neat style options with hair that long. Why look like everybody else?

If she likes it, it's nobody's business. Just because she has run into some rude people who think they are in charge of your mother's life doesn't mean she has to bow down to their wishes.

Sometimes long hair can make you look older, depending on the color, texture etc. I'm sure it can't be that easy to take care of, especially if it's thick. When I had long hair, I couldn't stand it! But knee length isn't that great looking honestly. If she still wants long hair, then maybe she should cut it to her middle back.

I personally think if a quite older woman has long hair (and is grey) and always has it down it looks very.. witch like at times, if she puts it up in like a bun or a french twist and wears little clips and vintage grips in her hair'll she'll look fab!

Wow..when you said long i was thinking middle of the back long! Usually when I see older woman in long hair, I think that they look unprofessional and they just keep it long to try and stay young looking. I find it rather inappropriate for their age. A bun can be very stylish if done right. But, I have a feeling she doesn't do it for style reasons, just to get out her way. Hairnets are absolutely a no! If she wants to be stylish and appropriate for her age, then yes, she should cut it. If she doesn't care what others think and likes her hair, then she should keep it!

i like long hair, but i think its time to get a trim. as long as she takes care of it, who cares. but iwould tell her to keep it long just cut it around waits length. thats still long but you can still do things to it like leave it down or curl it and you can still put it up in a bun.

I wouldnt do drastic short but that length is taking a bit far for a 46 year old. I would say chop it up to mid back it will make her look younger actually.

No, your mother should keep her hair as is, if that's what she likes %26amp; wants. I'm a bit older than your mom, and my hair is to the middle of my back, naturally curly and red. I have no intention of cutting it. My husband's hair is longer than mine. Someone told me once I was "too old" to have long hair. Huh? I never knew there was an age limit, lol! As you said, it's her trademark. Encourage her to continue to wear her hair as she likes.

Your mom sounds really cool. She does what works for her, and refuses to become a slave to whatever is "in" at the moment. It sounds absolutely beautiful to me, and I personally think it's rude for anyone to tell her different. BTW, I'm 31, and plan to keep mine growing for as long as I can stand it.

Knee length hair can be very beautiful especially when well taken care of. I think that if it makes her happy she shouldn't cut it. It is ultimately her choice what to do with it and fashions can be in one day and out the next so being "in fashion" is very trivial. End the end it is her choice. I happen to think knee length hair can be wonderful.
