I'm 20 weeks and my grey hair is driving me crazy! It's dark brown - any suggestions gratefully received!

I don't think anything has been proved or disproved on this one. If you call up a hairdresser, they will say that it is totally safe (I think as long as there is no peroxide in the dye), but I know two hairdressers who refused to dye their hair when they were pregnant! I did, twice, for the same reason as you and worried like mad on both occasions, but everything was fine - I had it done at Toni and Guy and they have some good, more 'natural' products. Sorry, this hasn't answered your question very well, but we were fine :-)

there is no concrete evidence that dying hair causes any damage to a fetus, they sugges it not be done in the 1st trimester, try going with a no amonia dye as it has less chemicals and the fumes are not nearly as horrid. But also remember that your changed hormones can cause the color to come out differently .

check the back of the due packet first, it should be fine (doubt it'll turn your baby brunette or anything) but if there is anything to worry about in that dept then its always on the back of the pack. and if it is then check with your doctor.

I have heard conflicting opinions. My Dr. recommended waiting until after the first trimester. I have also read that highlights are better than all over color because it doesn't just sit on your scalp.

The risk is that the hair can become dry and brittle in pregnancy, so you would be better off using Henna or a similar natural product that strengthens - chemical dyes and bleaches can do a lot of harm, so careful!

I would use the garnier hair color. It doesn't have all the chemicals and doesn't give off fumes. Its what I use and it works well.

you are not supposed to inhale any of those chemicals becuae it can be damaging to the baby. further more any chemiclas u use on your body or around you will go straight to the baby. whether its dying your hair, painting your nails, or perming ur hair it all goes into your system either by inhaling it or using it on ur body. it is not good. the effects on the baby may not be dramatic, but it still effects it.

I am a hairstylist and color my hair and also color other peoples hair. I just make sure to stay out of the fumes (I have my air purifier next to me). I talked to my midwife about the chemicals and she said as long was past the first trimester and I am not inhaling the fumes all day its fine.
