Because they have been told they should.

Grey hair comes at different ages for different people so it is not a definitive measure for aging; it is a definitive measure for your personal genetics for grey hair. The business that make a fortune (from your income) selling you products to keep you looking young (or what ever else they have dictated you must "have" or "be") have convinced too many that getting older (looking older that is, there is only one way to not become older) is awful. If a lot of people decided they wanted to look older, they would immediately change their products to help us look older.

I would like to start a campaign to drive the corporations that control the consciousness and self image (of the all too plastic majority) of America insane.

I suggest we should all agree that for one year we want to look a certain way, maybe grey hair and a little chubby. The cosmetic companies, clothing designers, hair color manufacturers, jewelry designers, make up, skin care, magazines....in general all the industries (most of them in China these days) would have to redesign everything to meet our buying demands. Next year we would all pick a different look...

At the very least it would return the concept of 閳ユ笩elf閳?to at least some individuals and demonstrate how much power most give to corporations whose purpose is to convince us of our need for their products (and give them money for those products).

I admit to joyful thoughts of seeing them adapting to the desires of an enlightened public.
