Why does my 14 month old son have a grey hair!!!!!?

It's huge and so grey it's silver!!!! I don't think he's stressed out. All he does is play all day %26amp; I make sure he eats right and gets the proper amount of vitamins and stuff every day. We go outside when it's not too hot (we're in Florida) %26amp; go for walks. We try to make sure he socializes often and gets a variety of environments to be exposed to.

Is this something I have to worry about?

Have you had him tested (mental competency)? I've read about a type of retardation that causes patches of grey hair.

Don't worry. Some people just have grey hair. Someone I knew in third through sixth grade had grey hair. He was in the gifted classes with me.

Chances are one of his regular hairs got pulled out - i've heard that if you pull out a coloured hair - a white one grows in its place - i dont think its anything to worry about it - it may even be genetic - i've always had a few white hairs..and orange ones..and a couple of blonde ones...but if you're worried see a doctor - it could be a defficiency of some sort in his diet - some of my white hairs even faded over time - i think its perfectly normal - its only hair afterall - i'd be worried if it was falling out.

he may have vitaligo. my friend has it and has a patch of white/grey because there is no pigment there. its no big deal. just be careful when hes in the sun cuz there are prolly patches of skin that have no pigment either

Unless your family has a history of that, don't worry. Your boy won't have grey hair ... for MANY years. Sometimes a baby's hair just doesn't have enough melanin yet to make it look 'colorful', so it is colorless. (Colorless hair is gray)

It's just a grey hair. It's just a hair that's not getting the chemical that gives you hair color. I think it's kinda cute and would leave it but you can cut it off. It will grow back.

It's ok. I found my first grey hair when I was like... 7 or something. And my mother had NOTICEABLE grey hair when she was 16. I don't think it really matters. But if you're too worried you might as well consult a doctor.

it might be that he's developing a grey spot in his hair, almost like a birthmark. i knew of a boy who had a patch of grey hair at the age of 4. it's not uncommon at all, and it has nothing to do with stress levels. it's totally normal. it might even be a conversation starter when he gets older!

embrace it, and if it is a birthmark, help him to accept it (kids are gonna ask questions when he gets to school because they're curious about it).

There is an old wives tale that says babies with grey hair are destined to have good luck throughout their lives. Don't stress over it - think of him as being special and gifted. I'm a black chick and I have a blonde streak down the back of my hair like lightning - my mom said she cursed out a woman with blonde hair in a grocery store while she was pregnant with me and she thinks she marked me by putting her hand on her stomach - don't know how true it is though. I've had gray hairs my whole life. It's just that a particular hair folicle here or there (or a patch on some people) doesn't have any melanin production in it. No worries.

my daughter, now 2 1/2, had a one grey strand of hair when she was about 1. At first I thought I was seeing things so I asked her father if he saw it and he did. I don't think it's anything to worry about. I don't see it anymore on her, so I don't know if she has more hair covering it or if it finally got some color. I wouldn't worry if I were you unless all of his hair starts turning grey.

Growing up I had a kid in my class that had a small grey spot in his brown hair. Its just a simple "genetic deformity". I use that term loosly. I don't really think this is something you have to worry about, but if really concerned...ask your peditrician.
